The 3-member Krar Collective has a sound that is anything but small, which quickly became evident when they filled The Cedar’s dance floor Friday, July 22. There was not a dull moment during this show, and vocalist Genet Assefa’s impressive runs left the crowd screaming their praise. It’s easy to see the truth in the band’s comparison to the White Stripes with the fullness of the backing of krar player Temesgen Zeleke and kebero drummer Grum Begashaw. The final show in The Cedar’s African Summer series, the Krar Collective did not disappoint, keeping up the same energy that had been present throughout the program.
