Our second featured Global Roots Festival artist is Maya Kamaty. Grounded in the island blues melodies and rhythm of maloya, the traditional music of Réunion, Maya Kamaty is breaking down barriers as one of the few popular female singers in what is a traditionally male-sung genre. By blending the music with French chanson, Indian, and African influences, she’s made a sound that’s completely her own.
Come see Maya Kamaty live on Monday, September 19th, part of The Cedar Cultural Center’s free, all-ages Global Roots Festival! Reserve your free ticket here.
