Our fifth featured Global Roots Festival artist is SK Kakraba. Ghanaian virtuoso SK Kakraba is a master of his craft in every sense; one of the country’s foremost gyil players and makers, SK literally carves every sound you hear when he plays. The gyil, the primary instrument of the Lobi, Sisala, and Dagara people of Northern Ghana, is a pentatonic xylophone with a distinctive buzzing sound that is created by covering the instrument’s holes with silk spider egg casings.
Come see SK Kakraba live on Wednesday, September 21th, sponsored by Minnesota United FC, part of The Cedar Cultural Center’s free, all-ages Global Roots Festival! Reserve your free ticket at http://www.thecedar.org/event/1210027-global-roots-festival-2016-sk-minneapolis/
