Eisner's Klezmorim
We are a new generation of old world acoustic musicians playing from the tradition of Eastern European Jewish celebrations. Our genre and sound is best characterized as "Klezmer"-- traditionally secular music played for bar and bat mitzvahs, weddings, and other "jewishy" social occasions. Eisner's Klezmorim performs dance music and most of the titles of the pieces are named after the kind of rhythmic dance-beat that makes up the song. We pride ourselves in being from more traditional roots--along the lines of old world stylings of Dave Terras and German Goldenshtein. We stay true to the authentic acoustics of Romania, Bulgaria, and Russia and this is shown in our choice of instrumentation. We are one of the few Klezmer bands that has a Tsimbl (Cimbelon or hammer-dolcimer) as this gives us our old-world sound. Based in Minneapolis, MN we have performed all around the Twin Cities and Wisconsin. Judith Eisner, the founder of the band is associated with MacPhail Center for Music, which is fortunately a common hot-spot for our gigging. We also have performed at The Minnesota History Center, The Illusion Theater, The Jewish Community Center, The Phipps Center for the Arts, Art-a-Whirl, Mayim Rabim Congregation, and the Minnesota State Fair.
