The Ericksons

The Ericksons are sisters Bethany Erickson and Jennifer Kochsiek. Their compelling style of indie-folk music is rich with sounds from acoustic guitars, banjo, string bass, and stunning vocal harmonies.

Growing up in the Midwest both sisters developed a deep relationship with music at a young age. But The Ericksons really took shape in 2006 when the sisters began performing at venues in and around New York City. They played as often as they could, and wrote more and more songs.

Those songs soon became The Ericksons' debut album Middle of the Night, recorded in a basement studio in Brooklyn. In order to capture the most honest expression of each song, they recorded each one live.

This beautiful and haunting album exhibits The Ericksons' soulful vocal melodies and heart wrenching lyrics. They sing of love. Life and death. Darkness and light. When one is the moon the other is the sun.

Since the album's release in the fall of 2008 The Ericksons have been touring, playing shows all over the country. When they are not on the road, The Ericksons are now calling Minneapolis, Minnesota their home.

**"Brooklyn-based folk duo The Ericksons claim a smorgasbord of disparate influences, from the usual suspects (Bob Dylan, Lucinda Williams et al.) to the less obvious, such as Radiohead and Yo La Tengo. But it is the joining of those seemingly contrasting inspirations that ultimately produces the pair’s sparkling take on the well-trod paths of American folk songwriting. With a keen appreciation of Americana storytelling and a gift for heart-wrenching melodicism and stunning harmonic twists, their sound is a perfect marriage of tradition and modernism." “The Brooklyn-based duet’s take on Indie-Folk, with tight harmonies and intriguing instrumentation, makes each track a surprise—even when it’s been on repeat for two hours.” (Kenny Squires, www.nighttimes.com)

“The Ericksons may be one of the finest vocal duos in the musical world.” (wildysworld.blogspot.com)
