Fred Eaglesmith Traveling Show with The Fabulous Ginn Sisters and Bill Poss and the Useful Tools
The Fred Eaglesmith Traveling Show rolls into town, and sets up camp at The Cedar! The iconoclastic Canadian singer, songwriter and bandleader Fred Eaglesmith promises to deliver a supercharged performance, showcasing material from his nineteenth album 6 Volts (released January 2012).
The album takes its title from the battery that powered the game-changing transistor radio – introduced in 1954, the same year that rock ’n’ roll emerged into popular consciousness – and embodies the notion of back to the future. Captured live in the studio with one microphone onto a one-track reel to reel recorder like so many enduring classics, 6 Volts bristles with contemporary urgency and authenticity.
Slack Key Generations: George Kahumoku Jr. and Keoki Kahumoku
A long-time seasonal favorite at The Cedar, this winter's slack key guitar show features the father and son duo of George Kahumoku Jr. and Keoki Kahumoku. Lifelong proponents of Hawaiian music and culture, the pair have an engaging, relaxed manner guaranteed to bring classic Hawaiian warmth to even the chilliest February evening in MInnesota.
As the acknowledged longstanding keepers of Hawaiian culture and music in MInnesota, it is a great pleasure to announce that The Ernie Kanoa Hula Halau, featuring singer Ernie Kanoa, will be performing in the lobby before the show.

Colin Hay (at Pantages Theatre)
An evening with the former Men at Work front man, still very much a man at work as he enjoys a thriving solo career, thanks to the multitude of fans who not only know him through the classics, but also through his terrific songs featured on TV shows Scrubs, and Army Wives, and films Garden State and Morning Glory. This year sees Colin releasing his 11th solo album, Gathering Mercury (Mar 29, Compass Records), with ten brilliant new songs!
Most artists who have experienced the levels of success and adulation Colin Hay has would be content to sit back and earn a living walking to the mailbox and back. Yet Hay is restless, eager to move forward and continually hone his craft while continuing to challenge himself.
