First Aid Kit with Samantha Crain

The Swedish duo First Aid Kit comprises sisters Johanna and Klara Söderberg (born 1990 and 1993, respectively), hailing from Enskede, a suburb south of Stockholm. Yes, they are very young, but the pure music they create speaks of bygone times and old souls. The emphasis is on narrative lyrics accompanying playful melodies with intense, dense harmonies.

Las Rubias del Norte

Las Rubias del Norte (The Blondes of the North) was born seven years ago, when Allyssa Lamb and Emily Hurst decided to quit their classical choir and start a group of their own.  The band mixes musicians from the US, France and Colombia who all look back to the Latin motherland most of them never had. The group’s sound quickly veered off its classical course, incorporating boleros, Peruvian waltzes, Andean huaynos and Cuban guajiras. The result plays like a dreamy soundtrack with classical harmonies set to a Latin beat. Read more »
