For a good sample of what to expect, check out the amazing video Denmark (posted to the right of this page), composed by cross-genre cellist Gideon Freudmann, and the first song of their most recent album Thousand Words...

Zack Kline: 416 Club Commissions
In partnership with the Jerome Foundation, The Cedar has commissioned seven local artists to compose, practice, and perform new music pieces in collaboration with other local musicians. This project drives The Cedar's vision to support emerging artists.
Versatile violin player and teacher Zack Kline will debut his project Not Too Distant with his bluegrass-inspired chamber group Orange Mighty Trio and guest drummer Peter Leggett (Heiruspecs). The project is a thought experiment that takes the listener through something of an imaginary video game and includes classic Nintendo sounds and instrumental versions of music by Aphex Twin, Postal Service, and Radiohead.
The Sweet Colleens First Annual Halloween Monkey Dance Spooktacular
Join The Sweet Colleens in this first ever Halloween Monkey Dance Spooktacular! Come in costume (there'll be prizes), it'll be a perfect time to try them out before Halloween. The show will be fun for the whole family, with an open area for the kids to dance, move around and sing along. All the kids are doin' it!
The Monkey Dance is the first kids CD released by the Minneapolis-based Celtic-folk-pop favorites The Sweet Colleens. The CD has 9 songs, which were selected with kids age 2 to 9 in mind; however, as with CDs by artists such as Dan Zanes, kids aged 9 to 99 will enjoy this record too! Featuring The Sweet Colleens’ classic rootsy sound, the mostly original songs range in style from funky (The Monkey Dance) to folky (Woody Guthrie’s Pretty Baby), Cajun (No Beans, No Brownie) to Caribbean (Going on a Road Trip), sad (The Golden Vanity) to Celtic (the lullaby Da Doo) to…well…just plain gross (Big Fat Wet and Goopy Poopy Diaper).
The Books with The Black Heart Procession
The Way Out, the new album from sound-collagists The Books, was released July 20 on Temporary Residence. To celebrate, the dynamic duo are presenting their stunning audiovisual live show to a select number of venues around the country, including this return stop at the Cedar. They'll be joined by doom-folk duo The Black Heart Procession, who release their new 40 minute EP Blood Bunny / Black Rabbit on Oct 12.
Portland Cello Project (patio)
Savor the summertime sweet sounds of the massed cellos of the Portland Cello Project, outside on the Cedar patio! As likely to play Bach as Arvo Pärt, Britney Spears, or Manuel De Falla, the group will have you seeing the cello in a new light.

The choir that accompanied the group on the EP will even be on hand to add their touch, making this an extra bright, and unique, occasion.
Spirits of the Red City will open, and Brett Bullion (of Tarlton) will provide interlude music.
