Thee Silver Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra with The Cloak Ox
Thee Silver Mt. Zion have incrementally evolved from a meditative, mostly instrumental orchestro-folk ensemble into an imposingly heavy, politically enraged rock band, with [Efrim] Menuck emerging as the most seething, peculiar agit-punk mouthpiece since Guy Picciotto. (Pitchfork)
Canadian post-rock band make the trek to The Cedar! Opening tonight will be The Cloak Ox, the new project by Andrew Broder, Martin Dosh, Mark Erickson and Jeremy Ylvisaker.

Jaga Jazzist with Merlin Monroe
An exciting night with experimentalists Jaga Jazzist from Norway! Featuring trumpets, trombone, electric guitar, bass, tuba, bass clarinets, Fender Rhodes, vibraphone and a rack of electronics, as well as strong melodies and rhythms, the band rose to prominence when the BBC named their first album A Livingroom Hush the best jazz album of 2002. Their most recent album One Armed Bandit (2010) was mixed by John McEntire of Tortoise, a group with whom they are often compared. The 9- or 10-piece band doesn't tour the USA often; not an opportunity to be missed.

SOLD OUT: City Pages and 89.3 The Current present Volcano Choir with Mystery Palace
A very rare opportunity to hear Volcano Choir live, the second of only two shows currently scheduled!
Volcano Choir is an assembly of Wisconsinites Jon Mueller, Chris Rosenau, Jim Schoenecker, Daniel Spack, Justin Vernon, and Thomas Wincek, who also perform under the monikers Collections of Colonies of Bees and Bon Iver. The collaboration predates the meteoric rise of Justin Vernon's Bon Iver project, with original songwriting dating back to the summer of 2005, right around the time the Bees first toured with Vernon's previous band DeYarmond Edison.
Mystery Palace opens this late night show. ADVANCE TICKET PURCHASE HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
