An evening with Michael Johnson
An evening with singer-songwriter and guitarist Michael Johnson. His voice immediately identifies him as the man who sings "Bluer Than Blue", "Give Me Wings", "That's That", "This Night Won't Last Forever" and other landmark songs. His music shows a diversity, depth and heart that can only come from years of dedication to a labor of love.

Cheryl Wheeler
“Cheryl Wheeler is an anomaly on the acoustic music scene. She has a rare gift for writing songs with lush melodies and lyrics of incredible beauty. On the other hand, she is a master of quick wit. Her observational humor has brought us a number of songs describing the utter ridiculousness of the world around us. And then there is the richness of her silky alto telling us what lies in the deepest recesses of her songwriter's heart.” (FAME)

Redbird
During a January 2003 tour of England, Jeff Foucault, Kris Delmhorst, and Peter Mulvey discovered a common affection for a wide swath of American song. That August, they sat down in a living room with one microphone, victuals, and multi-instrumentalist David Goodrich, and recorded sixty or seventy songs, of which a nice even seventeen made it onto an ultimately very well-received record Redbird. Redbird have since engaged in a campaign of very sporadic, usually good-humored public appearances and recordings. The Cedar is privileged to be joining the select group of venues who have provided a perch for Redbird for an evening of fine music.

David Lindley with Tom Feldmann
What he played did as much to form my music as my writing those songs...This is one of the great slide players of all time. (Jackson Browne, Rolling Stone 5/27/10)
Ellis CD release
There’s just something about Ellis. She is at once funny and wise. Thoughtful and uninhibited. And her captivating voice is matched only by her uplifting lyrics. Garrison Keillor recently described her as a terrific singer-songwriter, and said, “She is going to be a huge star someday.” Let’s hope he is right, because her performances are transformational. Ellis leaves her audiences better than she finds them, with softened edges and opened hearts.
Ellis is thrilled to be releasing her eighth album, Wherever You Are, a live three-disc set. The album includes two full sets from the same evening, including banter, audience interactions and applause, as well as a third song-only disc. The album was recorded in Mahtomedi, Minnesota at White Bear Unitarian Universalist Church.

Colin Hay (at the Pantages)
An aboriginal man once came backstage after a show and said to me in a kindly voice, "Where's your dance? I used to like your dance, you've lost your dance mate, you've gotta find your dance." So, I set out in search of it, looking here, there and everywhere in all corners of the globe. Quite soon I realized that "finding my dance" is an inner search, and that whilst I may never truly find it, it matters not. What's important is to keep searching, and in the process, refine and simplify the steps. (Colin Hay)
Karan Casey and John Doyle
Breathtaking Irish vocalist Karan Casey and guitar virtuoso John Doyle rose to fame as founding members of traditional supergroup Solas. Since leaving Solas, each has successfully carved out a unique place in contemporary Irish and folk music, yet their deeply felt musical compatibility and kinship has pulled them back to work together once more, this time as a duo. The result is Exile's Return (Compass Records), a luminous new album of Irish, Scottish and English folk songs, and a limited number of live appearances. The renewed collaboration has generated "a feeling of coming home," says Karan. "John in his guitar playing really does catch me, almost like he knows what I'm thinking." John says, "Karan's soul is in the music. We fit together, like hand in glove."

Tom Rush
"If there is such a thing as a folk star, this guy merits the title. Whether performing a heartfelt ballad, singing a down-to-earth blues tune, or weaving an onstage story with strands of humor and wisdom, Rush has been winning audiences over since the 1960s." (Boston Globe)
