Viviane N'Dour and the Jolof Band

Viviane N'Dour

Known by some as the "Queen of Mbalax," Viviane N'Dour has rapidly moved from being a backing vocalist in her former brother-in-law Youssou N'Dour's band to one of Senegal's most cherished musical treasures in her own right. By combining popular Western music and dance forms such as rhythm and blues, jazz, soul, Latin, and rock with sabar, the traditional drumming and dance music of Senegal, Viviane and her full band will have you on your foot and moving to the irresistable grooves.

Adrian Belew Power Trio & Stick Men featuring Tony Levin and Pat Mastelotto

King Crimson players Adrian Belew, Tony Levin and Pat Mastelotto keep very busy individually when Crimson's not active, but now, a historic joint tour: Adrian Belew Power Trio will headline the bill, with Stick Men (featuring Tony and Pat) opening.

And of course, how could they resist joining together for a Crim-centric extended encore - after their respective sets we'll see them reconfigure as Ade/Tony/Pat trio, morphing into the double trio lineup like King Crimson featured in the 90's. The tour name, 2 of a Perfect Trio, harkens to the King Crimson song "3 of a Perfect Pair"

Adrian Belew's trio features the amazing bassist Julie Slick, and NYC drummer Tobias Ralph - perfect complements to Belew's extraordinary guitar playing and singing.

Daniel Lanois' Black Dub with Rocco DeLuca

Black Dub

Black Dub is the latest project from acclaimed musician and producer Daniel Lanois, a legendary guitarist and composer who has produced seminal albums for U2, Bob Dylan, Brian Eno, Willie Nelson and Neil Young. Lanois is what historians like to call a musician’s musician.

In Lanois’ own words…

Black Dub is essentially a three-piece band with a high level of musicianship. We don’t operate on a technological grid. Nor are we tied to a page of fixed notes. Our songs are fluid. Often recorded live. One take. No overdubs. It’s a very old fashioned idea really.

Claudia Quintet

"Throughout the decade of the 2000s, the Claudia Quintet recorded, toured, and became one of the top five progressive jazz units in the U.S. and the world. For 2010 they continue with Royal Toast [Cuneiform Records], implying elegance and a golden brown, perfectly prepared, even buttery music. ... It's another extraordinary musical experience from the Claudia Quintet, who deserve all the high marks they receive as an innovative, thought-provoking, singularly unique contemporary ensemble." – All Music Guide

"...one of the most characterful small jazz groups of recent times." – The Guardian

"The references span from surf rock, to chamber jazz to hyperarticulate “acoustica” club beats, all rendered with exquisite precision and heedless abandon...there are too many moments of brilliance to list here..." –  JazzTimes

Stick Men featuring Tony Levin, Pat Mastelotto and Michael Bernier

Catch The Cedar debut of Stick Men - a new progressive band created from musicians with extensive experience playing together. Pat Mastelotto and Tony Levin are the rhythm section of the legendary band King Crimson. Mastelotto is in demand all over the world as the premier drummer for progressive rock. Michael Bernier is also a Chapman Stick player - one of the leaders in the field, and has played in combination with Levin, among others.
