Dan Newton's Café Accordion Orchestra presents Midnight in Paris
Genre-hopping favorites Café Accordion Orchestra return for another night of French-inspired musical fun. Midnight in Paris is a follow up to last year’s successful show, French Music and Music of the French Diaspora. CAO will conjure up the dark and exotic feel of late night in the City of Lights with French Musette, Gypsy and American swing, and French-tinged music from around the world.
CAO will bring two guests to the stage at this year's concert.
Captivating chanteuse DIANE JARVI is a singer-songwriter known for her poetic and jazzy approach to world folk music. She has appeared on two of Cafe Accordion Orchestra's recordings, and will sing French, Occitane, Cabo Verdean Creole and American French classics. Read more »
Cedar Outdoors presents Amy LaVere
"Part winsome alt-country gal and part avenging angel, Amy LaVere has made the breakup album of the year." (Spin)
Wrapping up this summer's Cedar Outdoors series will be southern singer-songwriter and upright bassist Amy LaVere. Amy will be hot off the release of her fourth album Stranger Me, produced by Craig Silvey, who also produced Arcade Fire's Grammy-winning release The Suburbs. Her most exploratory work to date, the songs about love lost, frustration and feeling emotionally disconnected are both haunting, and exuberantly defiant.
Free! Outside on the patio. All Cedar shows are all ages.
Crooked Still and The Barley Jacks with Brian Wicklund
The Cedar's favorite alt-bluegrass stringband returns in the middle of a very busy year touring the globe, including the big festivals in Australia, Celtic Connections, MerleFest, and all over North America. Still traditional in their roots, yet still evolving--and definitely, still deliciously crooked!

Zack Kline: 416 Club Commissions
In partnership with the Jerome Foundation, The Cedar has commissioned seven local artists to compose, practice, and perform new music pieces in collaboration with other local musicians. This project drives The Cedar's vision to support emerging artists.
Versatile violin player and teacher Zack Kline will debut his project Not Too Distant with his bluegrass-inspired chamber group Orange Mighty Trio and guest drummer Peter Leggett (Heiruspecs). The project is a thought experiment that takes the listener through something of an imaginary video game and includes classic Nintendo sounds and instrumental versions of music by Aphex Twin, Postal Service, and Radiohead.
Peter Rowan Bluegrass Band
The Cedar sure knows how to pick 'em--and so do the artists on tonight's smash bluegrass double bill: providing a living link to bluegrass founder Bill Monroe, the inimitable Peter Rowan has assembled an allstar cast in his aptly named Peter Rowan Bluegrass Band, touring in support of their brand new release Legacy (Compass Records), recorded earlier this year with the help of Gillian Welch and David Rawlings, Del McCoury, and Ricky Skaggs. And in a more contemporary vein, the Boulder Acoustic Society take roots music in startling new directions.
Tickets are on sale now from the Cedar Ticketline (612-338-2674 ext 2), from hard-working Cedar volunteers in the front lobby during shows, from Cedar outlets (Electric Fetus, Irish on Grand, Homestead Pickin' Parlor, and Depth of Field), and online at Ticketweb.
All Cedar shows are all ages. Students with ID may gain discounted admission for tickets purchased at the door.

Del McCoury Band with Roe Family Singers
For fifty years, Del McCoury's music has defined authenticity for hard core bluegrass fans, as well as for a growing number of fans among those only vaguely familiar with the genre. The most recent decade of that half-century of music making has been filled with new and ongoing triumphs. The Del McCoury Band has shown unprecedented stability, with but a single change in membership in fifteen years. Del earned membership in the cast of the legendary Grand Ole Opry in 2003, and the Band earned their first Best Bluegrass Album Grammy award two years later. Read more »
