The Cedar launches a music blog

Here in the Twin Cities, we sometimes have more music than we know what to do with. The local scene is decent: you may have heard of Bob Dylan, The Replacements, Prince, or Tapes 'n' Tapes. But you may not know about the plethora of active but obscure members of our local arts community who are forging new territory and quickly developing cult status. Additionally, the Twin Cities is often able to bring in renowned artists from around the globe. At any given night at The Cedar Cultural Center, for example, you might see a performer from Mali, Finland, Brazil, or from down the street.

Patrons, staff, and volunteers of The Cedar see and hear a lot of music - and not just at Cedar shows. These people live and breathe music. The Cedar recently launched a music blog at www.cedarblog.org to serve an outlet for this obsession but also to benefit you, the reader. On our blog, you will be able to read information and commentary about music events and shows happening both at The Cedar and at other venues. But this isn’t just about us: we want to hear from you. Maybe you know something we don’t, so please chime in. That’s the great thing about an arts community: it’s communal.

Here are our regular blog contributors:

The Professor: Teaches at Macalester College. Lover of music, hater of cottage cheese.

Mama E Dub: Balkan specialist and acclaimed hostess

Mr. William Call: Lives and breathes live music, wears hip tee shirts, buys his tickets ahead of time.

Angel of Rock: The new big thing. Saccharine. In a good way.
