CherryholmesAs America’s new first family of bluegrass, Cherryholmes has stormed to the top of the bluegrass world by winning the 2005 IBMA (International Bluegrass Music Association) Award for Entertainer of the Year. Debuting at No. 3 on Billboard’s Top Bluegrass Albums chart, their self-titled album has received a 2005 Grammy nomination for Best Bluegrass Album of the Year. The Cherryholmes sound is made up of hard-driving instrumental virtuosity and explosive vocal harmonies, featuring a mixture of original songs written by members of the band and carefully chosen classics. Their latest recording, Cherryholmes III: Don't Believe, was just released (Sept 08) on Skaggs Family Records, and features 12 tasty originals and an inspired cover of Gram Parsons' Devil in Disguise.
The Big Gigs Star Tribune 10/24/08 Nashville family band Cherryholmes sounds like a novelty act, but it's one of the brightest new stars in bluegrass. With Mom and Dad leading the way with their Celtic-styled musicianship, and a quartet of gifted young sibling pickers as its engine, the group has issued three albums for Ricky Skaggs' label; the first earned a Grammy nomination and the latest ("III") debuted at No. 3 on the bluegrass chart this month.
