The 8th Annual Yuletide Sweater Ball
The Pistol Whippin Party Penguins", along with local favorites Kind Country and Stringdingers will celebrate the 8th Yuletide Sweater Ball, an annual holiday sweater party in Minneapolis featuring some of the favorite bands in the local country/bluegrass/folk scene. This also marks the 10th anniversary of the Pistol Whippin Party Penguins! Put on your favorite holiday sweater and head on down to the west bank for a night of singing, dancing and foot stompin!
Pistol Whippin Party Penguins
Pistol Whippin Party Penguins
Straight from the great Mill City comes the Pistol Whippin Party Penguins. Don't let the name fool you! This is not a violent group of flightless aquatic birds looking for a party, but rather 5 self proclaimed gentlemen, 2 guitars, a mandolin, a bucket of fiddles, an upright bass, a banjo, and a 4 part vocal harmony that will make Donald Trump want to pay his fair share of taxes. As they work on their 4th album this winter, this quintet from Minneapolis strives to maintain the original spirit of the "string band" while continuing to play new original music and creative cover songs. The combination of folk, rock, blues, bluegrass, and the occasional stage banter will create an experience that anyone can enjoy!
Kind Country
Kind Country
Kind music for kind people. Kind Country is a Minneapolis based band that plays American standards as well as their own brand of Cosmic American music. Since their formation in 2012, the band has focused on creating live performances with high levels of improvisation and energy gathering with a goal of creating a moment of musical bliss that can be shared by audience members and band alike.

Kind Country released their debut self titled album “Kind Country” in the fall of 2013. Since then they have been bringing their music on the road playing live performances at theaters, bars, auditoriums, festivals, and everywhere in between all throughout the United States.

Formed as a 4 piece string band (Guitar, Guitar, Mandolin, Bass) in 2012, Kind Country soon grew into a full 6 piece bluegrass band adding fiddle and banjo. A few lineup changes throughout the years have helped the band evolve into what it is today. In 2014 the band began to include drums in their lineup on occasion and now plays almost all of their performances with a drummer. This addition has helped KC achieve greater depths of exploration in music and opened doors allowing them to develop entirely new components of their sound. Kind Country also on occasion incorporates Keyboard and Saxophone into their live performances bringing the total number of musicians to 8.

In late 2015 the band released their second full length studio album “Hwy 7″ recorded at Neon Brown studios in Golden Valley MN.
Stringdingers
Stringdingers
Stringdingers dive courageously over the string band abyss. Instruments in hand, they take the fateful leap, leaving nothing but an unwavering feeling of bliss in their wake.
