The Cedar and Ragamala Dance Company are excited to bring New York–based DJ Rekha to the Twin Cities for the third time to celebrate Ragamala's 25th anniversary season. Credited with pioneering Bhangra music in North America, Newsweek recognized her as one of the most influential South Asians in the US, and she has received accolades from The New York Times, CNN, The Fader,The Village Voice, and The Washington Post, among others. Join DJ Rekha and Ragamala for the dance party of the summer! All ages welcome.

DJ Rekha pioneered merging Bhangra and Bollywood sounds with contemporary electronic dance music. DJ Rekha is a producer, curator and educator based in New York City. She is the founder of Basement Bhangra™, Bollywood Disco and co‐founder of Mutiny Club nights. She was named "Ambassador of Bhangra" by the New York Times. Rekha was the sound designer for the TONY award‐winning Broadway Show, "Bridge and Tunnel”, and received a Drama Desk Award nomination for her work on the play "Rafta Rafta" and was the associate producer for the NPR Radio Documentary, "A Feet in Two Worlds." She has done remixes for artists that range from Meredith Monk to Priyanka Chopra. Her debut album DJ Rekha presents Basement Bhangra was released on E1 Music. Rekha has received numerous community awards and in 2009, was inducted into the New York City's Peoples’ Hall of Fame. She has curated events for Celebrate Brooklyn, Central Park Summerstage and has performed at the White House and internationally. She has taught courses on music history, business, and pop culture at New York University.   • Phone: 612-338-2674 ext 0 between 12 noon and 4pm M-F ($2 fee per ticket)
  • In person: Tickets can be purchased at The Cedar when we are open for shows. Check our calendar for show dates and door times  (no fee; cash, check, credit card). Our other ticket outlets are Depth of Field (no fee; cash or check only), and Electric Fetus (approximately $2 fee).
  • Online: (On Ticketfly, typically $2–$3 fee/ticket) until 2 hours before door time on day of show
  • The Cedar is an all ages venue
  • Discounts: Students with ID, seniors over 65, and children under 12 may purchase tickets at a discount at the door (subject to ticket availability).
