Tuomo & Markus
“Tuomo & Markus is a new musical project from acclaimed Finnish soul artist Tuomo Prättälä and singer/songwriter Markus Nordenstreng of The Latebirds.

The two gentlemen gathered spontaneously at Wavelab Studio in Tucson AZ to record new music with their friends who included John Stirratt (Wilco, Autumn Defense), John Convertino, Joey Burns and Jakob Valenzuela from Calexico, Pat Sansone (Wilco, Autumn Defense), and Gary Louris (The Jayhawks) who also contributed one song for the album.

The duo’s debut album ‘Dead Circles’ – which also features Finnish musicians Juho Viljanen, Miikka ‘McGyver’ Paatelainen and Jere Ijäs – was released in Finland and the rest of Scandinavia on August 4 2016 (North America and Europe release due in 2017).

While their craftsmanship and timeless songs are rooted in the great American songbook and some of the harmonies may be reminiscent of Simon & Garfunkel or Crosby, Stills & Nash, Tuomo & Markus are no retro act. Unusual arrangements and fearless use of both vintage and modern technology brings their sound to the 21st Century.

With the recent addition of Finnish jazz trumpet sensation Verneri Pohjola to their live lineup Tuomo & Markus’ jazz and psychedelic influences have become more and more evident at their ambitious live shows.”
Erik Koskinen
Erik Koskinen
Musically sprouted from the blend of American folk, country, rock-n-roll, and blues, Erik Koskinen and his top-shelf band realize a sound that is distinctive and fresh while familiar and classic. Koskinen’s albums are a lyrical and musical metaphor of American’s theaters of war, of history, of relationships, and of the reflections in the mirror. Knowing but not didactic, Koskinen channels the ways of Whitman and reverently enters the anthology of uniquely crafted wry songs with the likes of Woody Guthrie and Ry Cooder while speaking as plainly as your neighbor.

Candor and craft are front and center on Koskinen’s live album, Live at The Real Phonic Radio Hour. Recorded at the monthly James J. Hill Library Radio Show in St. Paul, MN from 2011-2015. All fifteen songs capture the power of music made in synchronous time, place, and company. Koskinen, whose last two albums Keep It To Yourself (2010) and America Theatre (2014) showcased his witty lyricism, sharp tongue, and poignant songs, does them one better with Live, releasing some old favorites along with eight never-before-recorded songs. Along with the band, Koskinen’s friends play along to some of the tunes for a rousing good time including crowd-favorite, “Detroit, Detroit”, with Dave Simonett, Ryan Young, and Tim Saxhaug of Trampled by Turtles. Other special guests on the album include Michael Rossetto, Jeremy Johnson, Richard Medek, Mike Lewis, Andy Dee, and Noah Levy.
