[img_assist|nid=1026|title=|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=300|height=199] At age 25, mandolinist Chris Thile (BBC's Folk Musician of the Year 2007) has accomplished more than most -- 2 million albums sold with Grammy-winning Nickel Creek, six solo albums and a side career as an in-demand studio musician. But ultimately, moving to New York was the catalyst that inspired Chris to form his new-generation band to perform a mix of original compositions and inventive takes from disparate sources such as The White Stripes, The Strokes, Jimmie Rodgers, and Gillian Welch as heard on his new recording How To Grow A Woman From The Ground. The band of acoustic/bluegrass heavyweights will feature 2007 Grammy-winning guitarist Bryan Sutton. With Nickel Creek going on indefinite hiatus, now is the ideal time to check out Chris Thile's next big thing--and a perfect Father's Day treat to boot!

"seamlessly wove together Bach, bluegrass, white country blues, and indie rock with room for Latin tangents and bebop-worthy soloing. Eclecticism like this can seem like a rough hand swinging down a radio dial but these boys made everything flow with almost unnerving ease. Like most true musicians, this is how they hear music in their heads - overlapping congruencies instead of neat, saleable divisions...Thile and company mine for silver anywhere that opens up to them. What they forge from that raw material is strong, intricate, and flashing bright." (Dennis Cook, JamBase)
