“Authentic.” “Timeless.” “Harmonious.” “Exhilarating.” Any or all of these adjectives could describe the folk-rock sound created by Sarah Lee Guthrie and Johnny Irion (eye-ree-un). The musical richness and psychological depth of their initial collaboration, the fittingly titled Exploration, is irrefutable proof that the disarming granddaughter of Woody/daughter of Arlo and the prodigious South Carolinian quite naturally bring out the best in each other. Johnny Irion recently followed up with 2007's Ex Tempore, which, as the name implies, is a spontaneous sounding recording, but with a depth that recalls the cosmic American music from the heyday of Gram Parsons and contemporaries.

In perfect harmony with the evening, Jayhawks drummer, and now well-established singer-songwriter in his own right, Tim O'Reagan will open.
