The Cedar presents Ani DiFranco with Dessa of Doomtree (at the State Theatre)
Ani's coming back! The Cedar is proud to present iconic feminist singer-songwriter Ani DiFranco in concert at the State Theatre a few days after the Sept 30 release of her new album Red Letter Year. "I've got myself a new mantra," Ani shares on the new album. "It says `Don't forget to have a good time.'" This attitude has clearly influenced the dozen tunes on Red Letter Year, which celebrate existence, profess love and tackle thorny political issues with an infectious sense of glee. It's one of Ani's most joyous records to date. Don't miss hearing these great new songs, new stories, and most of all, irrepressible Ani in a memorable evening.
Spoken word poet and emcee for hip-hop family Doomtree, Minneapolis' own Dessa will open!
"DiFranco is a smiling and snarling proponent for equality that everyone can enjoy and for long-lasting good days that involve holding whatever hand (whatever child, whatever person) you find you cherish most, hoping that it cherishes you the same amount." (Sean Moeller, Daytrotter)
