After unexpectedly receiving City Pages' Best Live Artist award in 2007,  Minneapolis' Dance Band has continued to refine their unique brand of independent funk with the release of their new EP, Geekadelic.  This record marks the end of an era with the departure of original drummer Hans Johnson and the arrival of Joe Rand from another local super-group, Best Friends Forever.   DB lives up to their hype in giving one of the most entertaining live shows in Minneapolis.  You will dance!

"It seems a band with a name this overt must either be ironic or doomed to failure. But Dance Band has successfully transcended the pinnacle of sarcasm to voyage in a whole new land of sincerity. They want you to dance as they sing in matching jumpsuits (or equally audacious costuming) about clapping, dancing, and riding bicycles- and you probably will. This is becuase Dance Band is the love child of a late night rendezvous between Devo and P-Funk on Seasame Street. -vita.mn
