Anni Rossi with I, Colossus and Best Friends Forever
Multi-instrumentalist Anni Rossi makes a stopover in her former home state, a few days before the release of her first full-length album Rockwell on March 10. Now based in Chicago, twenty-three year old Anni is an exciting prospect. Having been classically trained since aged three, Anni is an accomplished violist and has been performing as a solo artist for the past few years.
Prior to Rockwell, Anni released an EP called Afton on 4AD. She has already made extensive tours of both Europe and the US (including support slots with The Ting Tings and Electrelane as well as being a member of Carla Bozulich’s band) and along the way gained herself a great reputation and a rapidly swelling fanbase.
Openers tonight will be local band and Afternoon Records recording artists I, Colossus, featuring Matt Sandstedt, (bass, keyboards, vocals) with bandmates Noah Paster (bass, drums) and Jacob Elrich (guitar). The evening will be something of a reunion, as Matt and Noah were Anni's rhythm section six years ago!
5 for Sighting in 2008 (Local Pick) - "[I, Colossus] is an off-kilter collection of bedroom pop songs topped off by Sandstedt's sometimes haunting falsetto. This sort of music is prime fodder for college radio" - Ross Raihala, St. Paul Pioneer Press
Also on the bill: Best Friends Forever.
