An unparalleled evening of mandolin music with three of the world's greatest players coming together for one night of magic! Mike Marshall is one of the world's most accomplished and versatile acoustic musicians, a master of mandolin, guitar and violin whose playing is as imaginative and adventurous as it is technically thrilling. Able to swing gracefully from jazz to classical to bluegrass to Latin styles, he puts his stamp on everything he plays with an unusually potent blend of intellect and emotion. Throughout his career, Mike has performed and recorded with some of the top acoustic string instrumentalists in the world, including jazz violinist Stephane Grappelli, David Grisman, fiddle virtuosoes Mark O'Connor and Darol Anger, five-string banjo phenom Bela Fleck, bassist and MacArthur Fellowship winner Edgar Meyer, and classical violinist Joshua Bell. For his most recent musical journey, Mike has teamed up with two extraordinary young prodigies: Alex Hargreaves on fiddle (Alex was proclaimed Grand Champion at the National Oldtime Fiddlers' Contest in Weiser, Idaho in June 2007) and Paul Kowert on upright bass (Paul is currently studying with Edgar Meyer at The Curtis Institute of Music). Together, they push the music to new heights and unexplored depths, drawing on their collective talents to create something truly BIG.
