Singer-songwrier (and onetime psychologist) Lucy Kaplansky has come a long way since she first signed with Red House Records in 1994 with the release of The Tide. Five albums and nearly fifteen years later, her most recent album Over the Hills explores universal themes of love, joy, loss, and dreams for the future, through reflections on family. Her songs remain as perceptive as ever, and her live shows passionate, leading The New Yorker to pronounce her  “a truly gifted performer…full of enchanting songs."

Danny SchmidtBased in Austin, TX, Danny Schmidt has been making a name for himself across North America and Europe as a profound lyrical writer with easygoing Americana melodies. In 2007, he won the prestigious Kerrville New Folk Award along with Red House act Storyhill and has gone on to win wide acclaim for his album Little Grey Sheep, released on Waterbug Records this past year. DJ Rich Warren called him “the best new songwriter I’ve heard in the last 15 years” in Sing Out! and the Austin-American Statesman has called his music “beautifully honest.” His debut on Red House Instead the Forest Rose to Sing will be released in March, 2009.
