Mother Banjo CD Release with special guests Chad Elliott and The Roe Family Singers
Mother Banjo is a one-woman band featuring Ellen Stanley on banjo and vocals. Selected as a 2008 Midwest Finalist in the Mountain Stage NewSong Contest, the Minneapolis singer-songwriter has garnered high praise for her poetic lyrics and sweet, haunting voice. Following up on her success of her EP Swing Low (named one of the top local releases of 2007 by St. Paul Pioneer Press critic Ross Raihala), Mother Banjo releases her first full-length album The Sad and Found, produced by Darren Jackson (Kid Dakota, The Hopefuls) and John Hermanson (Storyhill, The Hopefuls). The album was recorded at Darren's studio and features performances by the
best acoustic talent in the Twin Cities, including The Roe Family Singers, Eliza Blue, Jaspar Lepak and Art Vandalay, who will be performing for this special CD release event. Also joining her will be Sweet Colleens drummer Jeff Gram and other surprise guests.
Opening for the show will be Iowa songwriter Chad Elliott, who has toured with Mother Banjo throughout the Midwest and recently joined her for her showcases at the 2009 International Folk Alliance Conference in Memphis. His new CD, produced by Bo Ramsey, will be out later this spring.
