Described by Billboard Magazine as a “visionary composer and producer”, Karsh Kale (pronounced “Kursh Kah-lay”) is one of global electronic music’s brightest stars. While his peers view Kale as a force of nature on both tabla and drums, Kale is an equally innovative song writer, producer, composer and DJ. Whether playing live or as a DJ . Kale has brought his infectious global sound to almost every major city on four continents. Kale is equally renown by both fans and critics as the pioneer of a sound that captures a panorama of influences - past and future, analog and digital - bringing classical Indian music into the Western mainstream rock and electronic vernacular. In a span of less than seven years, Kale released four critically acclaimed solo albums on Six Degrees Records, became a founding member of the super groups Tabla Beat Science and Realize Live, recorded and remixed countless artists, and has collaborated with the likes of Zakir Hussain, Paul Oakenfold, Sting, Anoushka Shankar, Salim-Sulaiman, Bill Laswell, MIDIval Punditz, Norah Jones, Sultan Khan, Paula Cole, Susheela Raman and Herbie Hancock. Karsh has also created Kollektiv, a national crew of DJs' producers, musicians and artists showcasing cutting edge underground music through Kollektiv events across the country.
Vishal Vaid
Vishal Vaid has trained in ghazal (a song form that means "to hold conversation with the divine") and first performed when he was only 3 years old. In 1994, Vaid formed Jai Ambe, and has worked with such renowned musicians as Bill Laswell and Karsh Kale.
Marc Copely
Marc Copely has shaped a solid reputation as one of the most in demand guitarist/singer-songwriter/producers on the music scene today. Described as "...a working-class hero of stadium-sized potential", the Worcester, MA, born talent was bred on the blues. At 19, he had launched his professional career, performing with many different New England-based blues bands. Most notably, he produced and played on the WC Handy nominated "Bring It On Home" by James Montgomery, also featuring the legendary James Cotton. In 2002, Marc signed a recording contract with RCA Records and released his critically acclaimed solo record Limited Lifetime Guarantee. His first single, "Surprise", received steady radio play and as a result of the album's predicted success, he appeared on VH1, MTV2, and was featured in numerous publications, including Billboard and GQ Magazine. In support of the album, he toured with artists such as: Coldplay, Our Lady Peace, Vanessa Carlton, and many others.
In the years following, Marc built his own recording studio, and has also generated an admirable respect as a producer and songwriter. He co-wrote the songs "Breathe Into You" with the legendary Carole King and "Something Beautiful" with Tracy Bonham and Greg Wells. Marc co-produced, mixed, and wrote songs for American Idol finalist Constantine Maroulis on his self titled, debut CD and produced two c ritically acclaimed albums with folk troubadour Jess Klein. The most recent of these, City Garden, received a four star review in Mojo Magazine. Marc's songs have been heard on "Late Night with David Letterman", "Tonight Show with Jay Leno", "Late Night with Conan O'Brien", "Brothers and Sisters", "Gray's Anatomy", and others.
Most recently, Marc has collaborated with a variety of diverse artists. In the last year alone, he has worked with Bono and Edge of U2, appeared with the Boston Pops Orchestra, under the direction of Keith Lockhart, and contemporary pop singer Linda Eder. He continues to perform with the Grammy nominated R&B singer Maiysha, Indian percussionist/producer Karsh Kale, and is currently completing his second solo album, Harp and Plow, which is expected to be released in summer 2009.
