White Rabbits with Glass Ghost and The Dig

Nov 9 2009 - 6:30pm
7:00pm

Mr Chan presents White Rabbits at The Cedar. An energetic indie-rock sextet, White Rabbits became an underground phenomenon upon the release of 2007's Fort Nightly. After winning over fans with its energetic live shows — thanks in part to its unusual two-drummer lineup and tours with the likes of The Walkmen, Spoon and Fiery Furnaces — the group just released a new album, It's Frightening.

Intense rhythms and sweeping, melodic choruses typify White Rabbits' catchy and often sinister sound — a blend of rock, reggae and ska the members describe as "honky-tonk calypso." The band seamlessly merges tinkling piano riffs and heavy-handed guitars, transforming once-straightforward pop hooks into something more adventurous. Here, the band will showcase material from It's Frightening, which was produced by former tourmate Britt Daniel of Spoon.

Opening tonight will be Brooklyn duo Glass Ghost, featuring singer and synth maestro Eliot Krimsky and drummer Mike Johnson, and New York group The Dig.

Tickets are on sale now from the Cedar Ticketline (612-338-2674 ext 2), Ticketmaster and Cedar Box Office only.
