Two of The Cedar's most popular and enduring singer-songwriters together on one night, brought to you by local indie folk label Red House Records.  Lucy Kaplansky has released a string of albums on Red House, including The Tide, Flesh and Bone, Ten Year Night, Every Single Day, and The Red Thread. Lucy’s new life as a mother has enhanced the emotional depth of her songwriting. Her latest album, Over the Hills explores universal themes of love, joy, loss, and dreams for the future, through reflections on family.

Catie CurtisAfter nine earlier albums firmly rooted in the acoustic singer-songwriter tradition, Catie Curtis showed that she still has more tricks up her sleeve with the release of her most recent album Hello Stranger. With help from producer Garry West, and supporting musicians including Alison Brown and Mary Gauthier, Catie put a string band spin on some of her best-loved tunes, and a few hand-picked classics. Along with her busy touring schedule, and raising two daughters at home with her partner, Catie has recently launched an initiative called Aspire to Inspire, aimed at giving guitars to aspiring musicians who can't afford them. This initiative is something Catie says she has wanted to do for a long time, since she was given a guitar as a teenager.

"New York songwriter Lucy Kaplansky is becoming the troubadour laureate of modern city folk." (Boston Globe)

"From the first time I heard her, I found Catie Curtis to be an extraordinary writer. She captures human kindness in her songs, and shows us what the heart can do when it is used as an instrument of love. It is Catie's heart that I admire, her ability to see light where so many would look and see darkness. She's one of the best, and I am thrilled to be singing with her on this record." (Mary Gauthier)

Tickets are on sale now from the Cedar Ticketline (612-338-2674 ext 2), Cedar outlets, and online at Ticketweb.
