Peter Ostroushko
The Cedar welcomes back a long-time favorite: Peter Ostroushko, who has a richly deserved reputation as one of the finest mandolin and fiddle players in acoustic music. His tours have taken him to the stages of clubs, performing arts centers, music festivals and theaters across North America and Europe, and he has earned an international reputation as a versatile and dazzling master of instrumentation and composition. Tonight, Peter will be joined by hotshot young jazz guitarist Sam Miltich, and exquisite pianist/accordionist Dan Chouinard.
“Over the years, I’ve come to believe that this place called the Heartland doesn’t exist on the geographical map. It cannot be defined by some longitudinal, latitudinal boundary. No compass will point you there. But I do believe the Heartland does exist. It’s inside each of us. It’s the place where we keep our memories. The scrapbook of our days. Where we look at the old snapshots, like the old neighborhood where we ran with our friends. The park where we hit that first homerun. The unwrapping of presents on Christmas morning. Where our elders who have passed on still give us good council. It’s the place where we know there is hope for the future. Yes, the Heartland does exist. With each concert, I have but one desire: to share with you my own Heartland journey through the gift of music. And in doing so, I hope that you connect with yours.”
