Justin Nozuka blends elements of acoustic-soul, folk, old-time blues and pop. Born in New York and raised in Canada, this young guitar-slinging aficionado is adept at mixing a dark, bluesy vibe with warm, acoustic soul where bits of old folk music and flamenco tunes swirl in and out of earshot. His lyrics span the range from light-hearted love songs to dark blues ballads, each thoughtfully channeled through a warm and captivating voice with intense emotion and control. Justin wrote his first song at the ripe age of twelve and by sixteen, was playing solo in clubs and coffeehouses and selling homemade CDs from a stall after shows. Justin Nozuka is currently working on his follow-up sophomore album You I Wind Land and Sea, which will follow in the same vein as his debut, while showcasing his maturity and growth as an artist.

"In his debut album "Holly", Justin Nozuka has created eleven impressive pieces of thoughtful acoustic-soul. Filled with understated melodies, minimal production and an interesting, sometimes dark take on song-craft...4 Stars."
-- BBC

"Superior acoustic soul. .4 Stars." -- Q Magazine, UK

"...Nozuka is producing material that is unlike any other singer songwriters - and consequently is beyond genre definition. Largely, it is one man and his faithful guitar - but with a voice like his, there really is no need for any other instrumentation. In truth it would only get in the way. 4 Stars." -- Belfast Daily Telegraph

"Nozuka seemed very modest, but there was absolutely no reason. He had every eye on him and it was nearly impossible to look away. Every song seemed to outdo the one before it, and when he quietly walked off, we were all aching for more." --Chartattack.com

Opening tonight will be Cuban-Canadian soulmate Alex Cuba. Ry Cuming, originally scheduled to perform tonight, has cancelled his appearance.

Tickets are on sale now from the Cedar Ticketline (612-338-2674 ext 2), from hard-working Cedar volunteers in the front lobby during shows, from Cedar outlets (Electric Fetus, Irish on Grand, Homestead Pickin' Parlor, and Depth of Field), and online at Ticketweb.

A Message from Justin:
I want to send my apologies for the change of the Eastern US shows. I hope it doesn't cause you stress and I really hope you can still make the new dates! We really can't wait to travel across the US again and I really hope to have you all there.

"I just want to be myself, you know?" says Justin Nozuka. The briefest of nervous laughter, and a wry grin, say what he can't say for himself: There is such a thing as too much introspection, even for a guy who's made his mark by being candid and reflective....
Singer-songwriter Alex Cuba hails from Artemisa, Cuba (1 hour west of Havana) and resides in Smithers, B.C. (14 hours north of Vancouver). Musically, he lives everywhere in between. His trademark sugarcane-sweet melodies, pop-soul hooks and rock chords subtly...
