Singer-songwriter Tyrone Wells opens his new album with the subtly soulful Running Around In My Dreams, a wistful serenade enveloped in a love-at-first-sight narrative where he finally meets the muse of his recurring dreams. The title track, Metal and Wood, deviates from romantic themes to focus more socially conscious and political subject matter – some of which is pretty heavy – but contrasted with the breezy groove of his acoustic tones he avoids sounding preachy, coming off like an earnest troubadour hopeful that a peaceful future is possible for the next generation. The Spokane, WA native heads back to the Twin Cities for a performance at The Cedar, along with rising singer-songwriter Andrew Belle, and Portland trio Crown Point.

Tickets are on sale now from the Cedar Ticketline (612-338-2674 ext 2), from hard-working Cedar volunteers in the front lobby during shows, from Cedar outlets (Electric Fetus, Irish on Grand, Homestead Pickin' Parlor, and Depth of Field), and online at Ticketweb.

All Cedar shows are all ages.
