Fanfare Ciocărlia with The Brass Messengers
Twelve-piece brass band from northeastern Romania keep the true spirit of Gypsy music alive! The Gypsies may only speak their local Romany dialect but their music speaks an international language and audiences respond to their fierce Balkan funk by turning concerts into parties.

Fanfare Ciocarlia took an original track by Bulgaria's Kottarashky and, revised it in collaboration with Canada's Socalled, who raps on the track.

UPDATE 8/23/12: Thanks to pledges from you, and funding we received from the Rosemary H. and David F. Good Foundation, this Cedar Seeder project has met and exceeded its goal! The show will go on!!! Tickets will go on sale through normal Cedar outlets at noon tomorrow, August 24. Pledges can still be made through Cedar Seeder until September 1. There is still amazing merch from Asphalt Tango to be had as an incentive.
Regular tickets (without incentives) will be available through the usual Cedar ticket outlets (Electric Fetus, Depth of Field, the Cedar lobby during shows, online at Ticketweb, or by calling the Cedar on 612-338-2674 between noon and 4pm weekdays) from noon Fri Aug 24.
How Cedar Seeder works: Music and art patrons like you pledge money to support specific projects. If we are able to raise the required amount by the due date, we charge your credit card*, the project happens, and you receive the gifts for your level of giving. If we don't raise the required amount by the due date, the project doesn't happen and your credit card is not charged. You can pledge by clicking "support this project" and logging in using your facebook account or by creating a username and password. Cedar Seeder is a safe and secure site.
*Your credit card will not be charged unless we receive $3,000 in pledges by September 1st. All tickets will be held at Will Call under the name on your credit card and can be claimed at The Cedar on the night of the show. A Minneapolis/St. Paul sprawling fun factory of eleven musicians. Music of choice is anything that fits into the twisted brass tubing, from inspired originals, to "sing-a-longs" and “covers” from around the globe. Truly, a joyful noise.
