416 ClubMostly (but not exclusively) local artists in a relaxed evening showcase. Come early and stay for the whole evening, or drop in for an hour or so and sample some of the best acoustic music around in optimal listening room conditions. Boiled In Lead  Drew Miller emcees an Irish-influenced evening for tonight's 416 Club -- setting the tone for St. Patrick's Day.

Throughout the evening, Rince na Chroi will step out in front of the stage to draw the intricate patterns of Irish stepdancing.

John and Ben of Green TeaFrom Wisconsin, Green Tea call their style "Celtic infusion" -- this five-piece band's music mixes Celtic roots with rock, pop, folk, jazz, and funk. GT's flute / whistle player John Coletta is reputed to be one of the best "hands" players in the world. Seeing is believing! "These guys cook!" -- James Elliot Brooks, Irish Gazette

Felonious BoschFelonious Bosch, too, began by working with ancient material on the album New Dark Ages. They have mutated into a six-headed beast of a band, with grooves inspired by sources from Medieval to Motown, topped by the powerful vocals and original lyrics of Katy Thomasberg.  “...mixes and matches Middle Eastern and Celtic folk music with Thomasberg's siren songs to create often mesmerizing tracks... Unusual and unusually attractive, Felonious Bosch gives folk
tradition a 3.0 upgrade.” -- Michael Toland, High Bias

The Blackbirds are Paul Wehling on banjo, Sam Adams on accordion
and vocals, and Sean Egan on piano. Stalwarts of our local Irish music sessions, they'll keep the dancers' feet moving with tune sets and songs of Irish, Welsh, Breton and American descent. "the waters of Celtic run deep and strong." -- rambles.net

The International Fiddle Conspiracy is a group of talented fiddlers ranging in age from 13-18 who play several styles including Swedish, Bluegrass and French Canadian. Tonight they'll play mostly Irish music for the dancers.

With many different approaches to Celtic traditions, tonight's 416 Club is a great opportunity to warm up your ears for Paddy's Day, and  complements The Cedar's other Irish music concerts this month from Karan Casey, Dervish, and Martin Hayes & Dennis Cahill. Take advantage of the Shamrock Special, and buy advance tickets to all three of these shows from the Cedar Ticketline (612-338-2674 ext 2), and save $3!
