Modern Guitarist: A musician who abides by a genre-less and boundary-less agenda. A free-willed improviser who listens well but isn't afraid to act or instigate new ideas. A musician void of competition. A musician open to communal collaboration. A modern guitarist is an explorer of electronic technology past and present. A modern guitarist is a student of global melodies and rhythms.

Please join us on Saturday, October 9th to experience some of Minnesota's most creative guitar players and sonic explorers. Modern Guitar Festival 2 is curated by Mike Michel and was created as a communal arts outing to help shine light on Minnesota's global and diverse underground music scene! Patrons will be able to experience a mini " Namm" show within the Cedar, for there will be many Minnesota Music Manufacturers displaying their custom guitars, amps, and pedals for patrons to try out! If you are a guitar geek at heart (or a zombie*), this concert is custom built for you. Thanks for your support!

*Zombie alert: This event takes place on the same night as the annual Zombie Pub Crawl. It is highly likely you will encounter zombies on your visit to the neighborhood. Some may even be at the show. Do not be alarmed. The Cedar is an inclusive venue, and zombies are welcome to attend Modern Guitar Festival, provided they have purchased their Very Important Zombie (VIZ) bracelet. For regular garden variety zombies, there will be beer and nourishment out on the patio 5pm to 11pm (gain entrance by lurching through the outside gate closest to Palmers).

Got noise? Listening to Jeremy's guitar playing is similar to being frozen in the climax of a helicopter accident. He will drag you teeth first through a whirlwind of gentle screams and ecstatic howls, waking you into his tension, violence and urgency,...

Here's stuff other people said at other times: "He's been called the one-man Elephant Six Collective of Minneapolis, an understated sound-tinkerer and our scene's most modest indie-prog guitar hero."  (City Pages).  Some bands I've played in that...
Jake Hanson
Jake, according to Jake: "My parents put a toy guitar in my hands when I was very small. A few years later, I was making UFO sounds with an analog delay pedal in my bedroom before my first day of 2nd grade. At age 12, my dad brought me to a long haired...
