Global Roots Festival 2010 takes you on a journey of exploration, letting you hear sounds ancient and modern. Tonight, enjoy young British jazzers The Portico Quartet, who feature a very cool sounding, modern steel drum-like instrument called the hang, and a multimedia production by Oreka TX, a Basque Spanish ensemble who play an unusual Basque mallet instrument called the txalaparta. They travelled the world with it seeking unusual musical accompanists and documented their adventure with the film "Nömadak Tx," and for this performance they will project sequences from the film while they play a live score.

Global Roots Festival Special: Buy a Festival Pass for only $49, and gain entry to all four Global Roots Festival 2010 shows! Buy passes from Ticketweb, or the Cedar Ticketline (612-338-2674 ext 2), or from a hard-working Cedar volunteer in the front lobby during shows.
