Bluegrass music from Alaska may sound like a bit of a non sequitur, but Telluride Band Contest winner Bearfoot is proving that the two aren't as unrelated as you might think. Bearfoot’s rise from über talented music camp counselors to an established national touring band has been nothing short of meteoric. Their fresh approach to acoustic music features twin fiddles, fast-picking mandolin and guitar, upright bass, and beautiful harmony vocals. Whether performing their original Americana/bluegrass songs, freshly arranged traditionals, or covers of contemporary tunes,  Bearfoot's exuberant stage presence elicits an appeal that bridges generations. Collaborative, uplifting, energetic, haunting, beautiful, AND inspired!

“It bounces, it swings, it dives head-first into minor keys and unexpected (but totally workable) phrasings. In other words, it's very cool. - Bluegrass Unlimited
"Old time, roots, Americana, folk, bluegrass - whatever...it's just plain old pleasure." - The Boston

SweetGrassOpening tonight will be SweetGrass, an acoustic bluegrass quintet based out of Madison, WI. The band plays a mix of original music and traditional bluegrass songs. With the band members centered on a single microphone, beautiful four part harmonies combine with finger burning solos.  The result? Hard-driving bluegrass that will make you want to get up, stomp your feet, and do-si-do with your neighbor. SweetGrass honed their craft on the sidewalks of State Street in Madison, but take this opportunity to catch them while you can, making that high lonesome sound, at this doubly sweet evening of winter bluegrass at The Cedar.

Tickets are on sale now from the Cedar Ticketline (612-338-2674 ext 2), Cedar outlets, and online at Ticketweb.
