Tennessee-raised, Minneapolis-based soul-songstress Chastity Brown celebrates the release of her band's new album, High Noon Teeth, following hard on the heels of 2009's Sankofa, and 2007's Do The Best You Can.  As a solo performer, Chastity has been turning heads and holding audiences captive with her jazz-tinged folk compositions, mesmerizing voice and expressive acoustic guitar.  In the past nine months she has shared the stage with international acts Angelique Kidjo, Toshi Reagon, and Pamela Means.

In midst of releasing her solo works, Chastity and her bandmates, Michael X. (percussion), Adam Wozniak (of Tarlton, upright bass) and Nikki Schultz (backing vocals), have developed a creative camaraderie that yields a groove-based soul tonic equal parts call and response, gritty gospel, and hypnotic vocal pairings.  High Noon Teeth is the first recording of the quartet's powerful combination of roots, rhythm, and blues grounded in Chastity's emotive storytelling.  Pushing beyond the guttural growls and percussive guitar techniques in her solo performances, Chastity's band takes her folk roots to an electrifying, energy packed level.  Come join the band in an evening of celebration!

The show will feature a special duo performance from Channy and Alexei Moon Casselle of Roma di Luna and an acoustic set from newly buzzed about trio No Bird Sing.

"Brown dabbles in soul, blues, gospel and even bluegrass and, quite often, brings to mind a 21st-century version of Nina Simone. " -Ross Raihala, Pioneer Press

“Evoking an old-timey Americana vibe riddled with scary hints of neo-Gothic mayhem, Roma di Luna play sparse tunes that squirm and fret under thriving uncertainty. The husband-and-wife duo of Alexei and Channy Moon Casselle etch tales of harrowing brittleness, Channy in particular singing with a fractured radiance that sometimes seems like the bittersweet murmuring of ghosts." -Rick Mason, City Pages

"Nearly everything about No Bird Sing is innovative and artistic...Just the musical makeup of the group is gutsy: essentially a hip-hop band built on the raw sounds of one guitar, one microphone, drums and little else.  The lyrics are bold, too, influenced by everything from "A Clockwork Orange" to Muddy Waters to Polish poet Czeslaw Milosz."  -Chris Riemenschneider, Star Tribune
