The music of local quartet Hawks and Oxen is certainly hard to describe in a few words as their influences cross multiple genres and periods of popular music.  Aside from a handful of original songs on their myspace site, the group has an incredibly loud and electrified version of Dave Brubeck's Blue
Rondo a la Turka.  Expect math rock compositions driven hard by the percussion of Kyle O'Brien and Bass of Ana Recto.  Kai Stenlund and Joshua Parlanti round out the quartet with their melodically piercing guitar styles.  With overtones of prog rock, Jazz, and indie giants like Built to Spill and Modest Mouse, Hawks and Oxen are one of the more exciting new groups we've seen from our local scene.

Add in opening acts The Sundowners and Sleeping in the Aviary, and you have yourself a mighty fine evening of music.

Tickets are on sale now from the Cedar Ticketline (612-338-2674 ext 2), from a hard-working Cedar volunteer in the front lobby during shows, from Cedar outlets (Electric Fetus, Irish on Grand, Homestead Pickin' Parlor, and Depth of Field), and online at Ticketweb.
