A Winged Victory For the Sullen with ACME string ensemble, plus Benoît Pioulard and Ken Camden
Kranky Records on Tour, presented by The Cedar and Kate Nordstrum Projects
The Cedar and Kate Nordstrum Projects present "Kranky Records on Tour," featuring A Winged Victory for the Sullen with the ACME string ensemble plus Benoît Pioulard and Ken Camden.
AWVFTS is a composer collaboration featuring Dustin O' Halloran (Marie Antoinette) & Adam Bryanbaum Wiltzie (Stars of the Lid), with a self-titled album to be released on Kranky Records (Sept 12, 2011). Stunningly gorgeous miniature symphonies composed of piano and guitar with orchestral accompaniment, the album includes “Requiem for the Static King Part 1” created in memory of the untimely passing of Mark Linkous (Sparklehorse), in which the duo have taken the age old idea of a string quartet and then shot it out a cannon to reveal exquisite new levels of mellow bliss. Of the 13 minute track “Symphony Pathétique”, Wiltzie says “after almost 20 years of struggling to create interesting ambient drone music, I feel like I have finally figured out what I am doing.”
Experimental singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Benoît Pioulard, and guitarist Ken Camden open.
The Cedar is now fully air-conditioned for your year-round comfort!
