Pop WagnerPop WagnerDoes dear old Dad really deserve another gaudy tie/car-cleaning kit/bottle of aftershave/nose-hair clippers? Why not surprise and delight the father in your life with the gift of music and a family outing, from three of the greatest musical Dads around?

Pop Wagner sings, picks, fiddles, twiddles lassos, writes poetry and is a downright funny guy.He appeared quite frequently on Public Radio's A Prairie Home Companion during the show's formative years and for the last four decades he has worked his cowboy magic throughout 44 states and ten countries. His cowboy anthems crackle with the warmth of a prairie campfire and his old time fiddle tunes set toes a-tappin' while he serves up spellbinding rope tricks and tall stories -- all with a good dose of friendly humor.

In the 60s and 70s John Kolstad sang and played his 12-string guitar in Minneapolis coffee houses. He performed at New England folk festivals and on a new radio show called "A Prairie Home Companion." Kolstad, has a vocal tone that is broadly appealing. It's neither deep nor high nor loud nor soft nor twangy nor wispy. He has a really neutral voice (in a good way) that is a pleasure to hear yet doesn't stretch any envelopes. He almost sounds like voice actor Jack Sheldon, commonly heard on Saturday mornings as Louie the Lightning Bug or on Schoolhouse Rock ("I'm Just a Bill"). (Take a listen to the slacker's anthem "I Ain't Doin' Bad Doin' Nothin'" and tell me he doesn't sound like Sheldon.)Papa John KolstadPapa John Kolstad

"Daddy Squeeze" has been playing offbeat accordion music since 1987, when he won the Nebraska State Accordion Contest at the Czech Festival in Wilber, Ne. He has used the squeeze box for playing all kinds of music not normally associated with free-reed instruments, as well as standard accordion material. His forays into previously uncharted squeeze box territories include blues, Renaissance, Appalachian, ragtime and reggae.

Daddy Squeeze NewtonDaddy Squeeze NewtonDaddy Squeeze also enjoys mixing up styles and genres that don't generally seem compatible. "Music out of context", or "Ethno-clectic Bop" is the result of his gender-bending experiments with Celtic, Tex-Mex, Creole, Blues, Jazz, Scandinavian, Polka and pop music.
