Tickets for four more super Cedar shows are now on sale, including a solo acoustic show by Minnesota-bred singer-songwriter Peter Himmelman (6/3), a high energy appearance by Balkan Beat Box (6/4), touring very sparingly with their new album Blue Eyed Black Boy, gothic alt country duo Handsome Family (6/11), and sublime kora music from Toumani Diabaté, performing with the Symmetric Orchestra (8/6).

Alash are masters of Tuvan throat singing (xöömei), a remarkable technique for singing multiple pitches at the same time. What distinguishes this gifted quartet from earlier generations of Tuvan throat singers is the subtle infusion of modern influences into their traditional music. One can find complex harmonies, western instruments, and contemporary song forms in Alash’s music, but its overall sound and spirit is decidedly Tuvan.
