Volunteer at The Cedar

Next Volunteer Orientation: Currently there are none scheduled. Please contact Jason Koffman (select Volunteer-related questions from the pull-down menu) for more information and to be notified of the next orientation date.

Our volunteers are crucial to keeping the Cedar running; they also have a lot of fun! Volunteers are able to hear much or even all of the performance they work, and they also earn credit towards free passes good for future shows (8 hours of credit earns 1 pass; some shifts earn double credit). We provide a safe, fun, and welcoming environment working alongside music fans of all ages from diverse backgrounds. Volunteering at events can mean setting up the theater before shows, staffing the ticket sales table, helping with concessions, staffing the merchandise table, and cleaning up the theater after shows. We also need frequent help with office work and promotions (unpaid internships are available: Please ask!), and occasional assistance with gardening, transportation of artists and/or instruments, ASL interpretation, translation, fundraising, maintenance, and writing. We also welcome ideas for special projects that use your unique skills and talents.

How do I get started?
Every Cedar volunteer must attend a Volunteer Orientation session before they can volunteer. It is held at the Cedar and usually lasts about 90 minutes. At the end of the orientation you will have an opportunity to sign up for shifts at upcoming shows with vacancies. Shifts for popular shows can fill up weeks in advance, so it pays to plan well ahead. For more information, or to sign up for an orientation, please contact the volunteer coordinator Jason Koffman at (612) 338-2674 ext.102 or jasonDOTkoffmanATthecedarDOTorg

Employer matching gifts
Many companies have matching gift programs that double or even triple the charitable contributions of their employees. Some companies may even contribute financially to match employees' volunteer efforts. If your employer has a matching gift program, please let us know who we can follow up with to help maximize the impact of your volunteer contributions to the Cedar. Please call or email Jason Koffman at (612) 338 2674 x102, with the name and contact information of your company's matching gift coordinator.
