Josh Rouse with Horse in the Sea

10/12/2008 - 7:30pm

Josh RouseJosh RouseMelodic indie pop singer-songwriter Josh Rouse made a name for himself and earned a passionate following with a string of critically-acclaimed CDs, including Under Cold Blue Stars, 1972, and Nashville, ultimately inspired by what Rouse calls his favorite genre of music: 70's singer/songwriter. These albums are the source of his very recent compilation The Best of the Rykodisc Years. His most recent full-length album of new material Country Mouse, City House was recorded in Spain (where Rouse has made his home since 2006), and according to Rouse, covers themes of "death, isolation, nature, religion, and dreaming." Obviously not one to avoid tackling the big issues, Rouse is a compelling artist, and The Cedar's intimate space will be an ideal listening environment. Josh is the first to recognize this; he recently released a live recording of his last appearance at The Cedar as one of only a handful of Bedroom Classic live recordings.

Chicago indie folk-rock band Horse in the Sea will open.
