Welcome to the Gyuto Vajrayana Center!

Gyuto Center Shrine RoomSince its founding in 2001 by Venerable Thupten Donyo, Gyuto Vajrayana Center has provided the teachings of the Buddha and practice of Tibetan Buddhism to all who visit the monastery.

In order to preserve the Tibetan Buddhist tradition, the Center invites highly qualified teachers and provides teachings on Sutra and Tantra.  As well as teachings, the Center organizes initiations, empowerments, prayer ceremonies, funeral services, house blessings and purifications.  We also reach out not only to the different schools of Tibetan Buddhism but also to Buddhist practitioners of every nationality.  The Center intends reaching out into the local neighborhood and offering support to those in need. More information.

Born in Lhasa, Tibet, in 1939, Kyabje Gelek Rinpoche was recognized as an incarnate lama at the age of four.  Carefully tutored from an early age by some of Tibet’s greatest living masters, Rinpoche gained renown for his powers of memory, intellectual judgment and penetrating insight.  As a small child living in a monk’s cell in a country with no electricity or running water, and little news of the outside world, he had scoured the pictures of torn copies of Life Magazine for anything he could gather about America.  Now Rinpoche brings his life experience and wisdom to both the east and the west.

The Gyuto Monks Newest CD (TIBETAN CHANTS FOR WORLD PEACE)

The powerful Gyuto monks chants on this album had never been recorded until 2001, when Grateful Dead's Mickey Hart brought The Gyuto Monks Tantric Choir to his California studio to record the incredible multiphonics of their sacred rituals. The Gyuto monks gave Hart permission to overdub their voices, achieving the huge sound of the 100-voice choir as one might hear at their mountain monastery in India or Tibet.  Gyuto monks prayers for healing, compassion and peace.
