Tonight, we'll celebrate the release of Michael's latest CD Wintersong, a collection of vocal and instrumental music inspired by the beauty of the Winter season.

Michael Monroe lives and records on the North Shore of Lake Superior in his solar powered log cabin. His instrumental music has been seen across the nation on PBS in the award winning documentary, "Chased By The Light," about Jim Brandenburg, National Geographic photographer and best selling author. He brings compelling energy to the stage, and his music is as much fun as it is innovative. A fixture in the Twin Cities music scene in variations from solo to six piece bands, Monroe moved to the North Shore in the mid-1990s and created his first solar powered studio recording, As Far As I Can See, which was noted as a 1997 "top ten" by the Minneapolis Star Tribune, calling it, "A work of art straight from the heart." Monroe continues to perform in concert, festival, club, and educational settings. His portable solar powered setup provides electricity for his summer shows from Minnesota to the California Capitol Steps for "Clean Power Day" and serves to educate audiences about renewable resources. For the past two years, he has hosted a Log Cabin Concert Series where audiences experience his music in his home / studio outside of Grand Marais.
