Dave AlvinDave AlvinTim O'BrienTim O'BrienChris SmitherChris Smither A monster evening of music with three giants, and featuring folk, certainly, but also delving deep into acoustic blues, bluegrass, and rockabilly. Dave Alvin helped to kick-start the American roots rock scene in the early '80s with the band the Blasters and has since gone on to a career as a solo performer, songwriter, producer, and sideman that's been as well respected as it is eclectic. Fiddler, mandolinist and vocalist Tim O'Brien is one of the spearheads of contemporary bluegrass. As co- founder and lead vocalist of Hot Rize and Red Knuckles & the Trailblazers, O'Brien served as a bridge between the traditional sounds of the hill country and the modern styles of bluegrass in the 1980s. Since the band's breakup, O'Brien has continued to expand the music's borders as a soloist, a duo partner with his sister Mollie, and with his band, the O'Boys. Last, but certainly not least, Chris Smither brings the blues to the party, with his weathered, well-worn but emotionally-charged voice singing about the really big issues with a dry sense of humor, effortlessly finger-picked guitar licks, and a foot that never misses the beat.
