Nordic Roots Festival: Hedningarna with Detektivbyrån

09/27/2008 - 8:00pm

HedningarnaDetektivbyrånDetektivbyrånHedningarna's world is a place where primal folk music collides with sampling and programming, forging a new direction. Hedningarna, "the heathens" in English, drive ancient Nordic music into the modern era paying no attention to the rules of the road. Their newly created tunes are an extension of the living tradition inspired by the melodies of their forebears. The intensity of modern technology mixed with the flavor of ancient instruments and tunes creates the explosive, intense sound of Hedningarna.

Detektivbyrån joins Hedningarna this evening. Detektivbyrån, also referred to as DBY, is a three piece band from Sweden, with a strong emphasis on glockenspiel and accordion. Since 2005 they have performed their melody driven pling-plong tunes. Detektivbyrån is glockenspiel ´n´ accordion on top of fuzzy beats, swinging hugs and sweet respect. Detektivbyrån is as honest as it's possible to be nowadays.
The three members Anders, Jon and Martin grew up in the small town Karlstad, Sweden. In 2005 the three had relocated to Gothenburg. Detektivbyrån was formed. In 2006 they released their critically acclaimed EP, “Hemvägen EP”, which created a big buzz when it was released. With that release they gained a lot of press and attention all over the world. Their full-length debut album entitled “Wermland” was released on September 3, 2008.

“Life is a complicated process with many components, and at any given time certain properties will express themselves with different amounts of emphasis and persuasion. In this aspect, Detektivbyran reproduces the little nuances of life with astounding success. The future is bright for Detektivbyrån, in time we shall witness them coming to form in a truly stunning body of work. Until then, watch the stars twinkle under the night sky and let the soothing sounds of Detekivbyrån tuck you in."
