The Pine Leaf Boys have been making a name for
themselves for presenting their own inimitable brand of
traditional Cajun and Creole music with youthful
exuberance.
In addition to the dance hall standards, they have made a
point of bringing many of the more obscure songs of past
masters into their repertoire and playing them with gusto.
Skillful multi-instrumentalists, it’s not uncommon to see them
switch and trade-off during their raucous shows.
Steeped in music since children and hailing from farms
and villages in Cajun country the Pine Leaf Boys have been
making a name for themselves as being not only a young
group of musicians, but preserving the traditional Cajun
sound, while allowing it to breathe and and stretch with those
who play it.
They present their music in multiple configurations such a
twin fiddles, duo accordion/fiddle, bass, drum, and even
stomping jurés. Knowledgeable in all forms of Cajun &
Creole music, as well as Zydeco, the Pine Leaf Boys reign the
concert halls as well as the dance halls.

I am wondering about the legth of the concert/dance. i attend the Ramblers regularly . Am receiving emails saying this event is from 8 to 9. Is this correct??

Thanks for the comment/question. I would certainly expect the event to go later than 9pm, although given that it will be a Sunday night, likely not quite as late as the Ramblers play for. Note it will start at 7.30pm, not 8pm as the Ramblers normally do. Should be an excellent evening from a not-to-be-missed band! Brian at the Cedar

Hi Brian,
Thanks for the reply. I believe most of the attendees will be regulars C/Z dance community. Our regular Sunday dance at the Halftime Rec, which goes to 11, has be cancelled for this event. I guess the real question is how long our The Pine Leaf Boys contracted to play for.
Thanks,
Gary Moss

Hi Gary,
As a guideline, I would expect two sets, each 50mins plus, but these things are notoriously hard to predict. If musicians sense an enthusiastic crowd dancing up a storm, and an opportunity to make a really good impression on a new market, they can get carried away and perform quite a bit longer than contracts specify. No guarantees, but I would say this is quite likely with a young, energetic band like the Pine Leaf Boys.
We appreciate the support of the Cajun/Zydeco community in canceling the regular Half-Time Rec dance--you are right, having the community split over two venues would make little sense for either half, or venue. We look forward to seeing everyone at the Cedar on Sunday night--and back again for the Ramblers CD release on Nov 10!
