Hertz Senior Recital
Letting Go by Patrick Hz and the Frequency Bands
UPDATE: This project has been successfully funded. Thank you for your support. Click here for details about the show.
Patrick Hertz hails from Wausau, Wisconsin and has been a musician all his life. He entered the School of Music at the University of Minnesota in 2009 after deciding it was best to follow his dreams of being a performer as a professional career. Since then, Patrick has grown in his musicianship and artistry by leaps and bounds and is ready to give a performance you will surely not soon forget.
His new band, Patrick Hz and the Frequency Bands, will be calling this new project Letting Go. The title draws from the influence that studying meditation has had on Hertz in the last two years. He aspires to let go of any hesitations or self-consciousness and let what comes naturally flourish. For this reason, his music has become much more genuine than it has even been.
This project is of the likes of which Hertz has never imagined before. He is taking on every aspect of the creation of his new music. His plan is to have written parts for not only himself and his guitar, but also for a small choir, a set of strings, a variety of horns, banjo, mandolin, keyboard, and various percussion instruments. You can expect the sound and texture of Hertz's music to be rich and interesting, drawing influences from his classical training as well as his experience in popular music. Fans of bands such as The Arcade Fire, The Flaming Lips, Bon Iver, Andrew Bird, and Sufjan Stevens will enjoy the unique combinations of timbres, rhythms, and interesting harmonies. Fans of classical music may find themselves hearing influences from Erik Satie, Claude Debussy, Richard Wagner, Johann Sebastian Bach, and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, in ways they never expected before.
Make a difference for this up-and-coming musician by donating to support this occassion. Your donations will help cover the costs of having the show at The Cedar, the opening band, Patrick's accompanying musicians, marketing materials, and video and audio recording of the concert. You may donate by clicking the donate button at the top of the page. Any amount would be very much appreciated. It will help build a foundation for Hertz as he enters into the world of professional music. Thank you.
