Submitted by bcorner on Fri, 03/21/2008 - 10:13pm.

Billy Bragg is coming! On Fri June 13, the iconic British singer-songwriter and political activist will be making his first visit to The Cedar, in support of his first new studio album in 6 years, Mr Love and Justice. There'll be limited seating to comfortably accommodate a good sized crowd, but even so, we expect this show to sell out early. Tickets are now on sale as of today, available from Ticketweb, The Cedar Ticketline (612-338-2674 ext 2) and concessions counter, and Cedar outlets (Electric Fetus, Global Village, Irish on Grand and Homestead Pickin' Parlor.

Other tickets on sale today: two of the hottest Indie singer-songwriters, the highly literate Laura Veirs and dynamic New Zealand one-man-band Liam Finn (son of Crowded House's Neil Finn)(May 13), an intriguing evening of entomological entertainment when Mirah and Spectratone International perform music as a soundtrack to 12 short stop-motion films by Britta Johnson, Share This Place (May 6), with a nod to French naturalist J. Henri Fabre and exploring themes of eusociality, ecdysis and emergence, and folk-country artist Gretchen Peters (April 17), touring in support of her pean to midlife epiphanies and divorce, Burnt Toast and Offerings.

In March and April, your donation counts double.
The 2008 McKnight Challenge is underway! The McKnight Foundation is contributing to our current campaign, “We are Made of Cedar,” by matching every donation in March and April dollar for dollar up to $10,000. This means your donation will count double! We need all Cedar supporters, patrons, and fans to help us meet the challenge.

For more information about the McKnight challenge, to learn about our current campaign, to make a donation, or to be directed to our facebook page, visit The Cedar online . The Cedar is a 501c3 non-profit arts organization.

Finally, we regret to inform of a cancellation: the Guy Davis show scheduled for Fri Mar 28 has been cancelled due to circumstances beyond the Cedar's control. Ticketholders may call The Cedar (612-338-2674 ext 0) for a refund.

For updates on the rest of The Cedar's shows, please check The Cedar site often for updates. Don't miss the rest of March's great shows, a perfect diversion from late winter storms: bluegrass outfit The High 48's celebrate the release of their new CD with help from The DitchLilies (3/22); The 416 Club welcomes a host of new artists including The Floorbirds, The Parlour Suite, Roma di Luna, Meg Ashling, and Matt Fox (3/23); and soulful singer Matthew Santos takes a break from touring with Lupe Fiasco to perform his own material with his band (3/29).
